Check Out Summer Programming at CHC (Community Health Centres)

Now celebrating 10 years serving the community, the Community Health Centres of Northumberland have announced programming for July.
Most of the programming will be held at 99 Toronto Rd. in Port Hope, with some off-site programming also offered – though for the most part, many old favourite programs are recessed for the summer.
But not the Souper Douper Yummy Soup Lunch on July 19. The amazing Soup Sisters will dish out soup and roll, while you enjoy lunch and a chat. A suggested donation is $2.
There’s also the monthly Hoarding Support Group meeting, a positive and welcoming occasion where people can speak freely and openly while learning new skills to help them cope. The meeting takes place July 11 from 5:30 to 7 p.m., and you can get more information by calling 905-885-2626 ext. 280.
Falls Prevention workshops are offered on a drop-in basis Mondays and Wednesdays from 2:15 to 3 p.m. And exercise and diabetes workshops will still take place.
The Just The Basics diabetes workshop will be offered in Port Hope July 18 from 5 to 6:30 p.m., as well as at the Cobourg Community Centre (750 D’Arcy St.) July 16 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
And there’s a variety of yoga classes to choose from.
Chair yoga begins July 4 from 1 to 2 p.m.
Balance Fitness also starts July 4 from 9 to 9:45 a.m.
Yoga for beginners starts July 9 from 10 to 11 a.m., with gentle yoga starting the same day from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Gentle yoga classes also begin July 4 from 5 to 6 p.m.
Active Fit and Fun begins July 11 from 10 to 11 a.m., and also on July 12 from 10 to 11 a.m.
Balance, Strengthen and Stretch begins July 26 from 4:30 to 5:20 p.m. That’s the same day Pilates begins, from 5:45 to 6:35 p.m.
A range of programming for young people is offered free – though registration in advance is required.
Crafty Fridays run from 10 a.m. to noon July 6 and 13 for young people aged 11 to 16, a chance to get crafty and have fun.
Teens Can Cook (for those aged 11 to 16) has sessions from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. July 10 (Greek Cuisine), July 17 (Comfort Foods with a Twist), July 24 (Asian Cuisine – Maki Rolls and More) and July 31 (Bite-sized Eats and Treats).
Young people aged 10 to 14 can gain the confidence and skills they need to stay home alone through interactive games and activities, and there’s a session from 9:30 a.m. to noon July 20.
