Future Unknown for Apartment Building That Suffered Major Fire Damage

Tenants told Today’s Northumberland they were awaiting a asbestos report that is due to arrive at 1:30 pm. on Thursday, May 31, 2018.  Following the report was anticipated they may be allowed back in to their apartments to gather belongings at an apartment building that suffered major damage after a fire on May 17, 2018 on Wellington Street in Port Hope.  A tenant texted Today’s Northumberland later Thursday afternoon stating “no one can go in.”

The tests came back and the tenant said “it’s not good.”

A worker inside the fenced area said he was in charge of the site but offered no comment.
