Repairs To Waterfront Trail In Port Hope

The repairs to the waterfront trail in Port Hope that was damaged by the high waters of Lake Ontario last year are nearly complete.
A construction crew from Barcon Construction in Hamilton said they should be completed by the end of this week after working on repairing approximately 200 metres of the waterfront trail from Lake Street parking lot to the parking lot at Gage’s Creek.
Damage was caused by the high waters of Lake Ontario damaging a large part of the trail.
Supervisor with Barcon, Jacob Venema said it was a “fairly big job.”
“All the damage that was done has been fixed along the entire way.”
Crews were just completing the final work on the pathway and are concentrating on the new addition to the trail.
Crews will be working for the rest of the week completing a wheelchair ramp which is being added to the lookout over the marsh.
