Update – Fatal Collision on County Road 65 Port Hope
(PORT HOPE, ON) – On April 19, 2018 at approximately 11:50 pm the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), along with emergency personnel responded to a single motor vehicle collision on County Road 65 north of the 6th Line in the Municipality of Port Hope involving a Grey Hyundai Genesis.
A passerby noticed the car that had gone off the roadway and struck a tree. The single male occupant was transported to an area hospital by ambulance then air lifted to a Toronto area trauma centre with life threatening injuries.
The driver, a 28 year old male of Bailieboro, Ontario has died as a result of the injuries he sustained. . The victim’s name is being withheld at this time pending confirmation of next of kin notification.
OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) attended the scene to assist detachment officers with the investigation. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
County Road 65 between the 6th Line and the 7th Line was closed to traffic for several hours. No other vehicles were involved.
