Fanny Down The Ganny – Port Hope
Over 50 Crazy Craft along with numerous other questionably “crazy” people floated their fannies down the Ganny in the annual Float Your Fanny Down the Ganny river race. The 10 km race starts at Sylvan Glen Road north of Port Hope and travels along the Ganaraska River where the race ends in downtown Port Hope. The race commemorates the flood of 1980 which devastated the town of Port Hope. Each year since, the community along with others from across Ontario come to Port Hope to celebrate the resiliency from the natural disaster. Emergency services were on standby to help anyone who needed help in the rapids. Among the people who needed help were those who took the unexpected dips in the river and didn’t wear the proper clothing. Race categories include canoe, kayak and crazy craft.
