Numerous Collisions In Northumberland County on Friday Morning
Numerous collisions were reported on Highway 401 and other areas of Northumberland County on Friday morning.
Spinouts, vehicles hitting guardrails, in the median and rollovers from Grafton to Brighton along Highway 401.
At Brighton, numerous tractor trailers it’s reported couldn’t make it up County Road 30.
Traffic was at a standstill because of the flash freeze.
A witness said a vehicle passed a construction trailer on County Road 2 by the Grafton Legion when it went in the ditch and went on its side due to the slippery conditions. The vehicle wasn’t traveling fast at the time of the collision said the witness.
On County Road 28 at the top of the hill by Bewdley a pickup truck and a SUV collided heavily in a head-on crash.
Two people in the pickup truck and one in the SUV were transported to hospital.
The driver of the SUV was trapped and there are reports the front end of the vehicle was on fire, but was extinguished by people on the scene before emergency crews arrived.
County Road 28 at Bewdley was closed for at least two hours for the investigation and clean-up.
