Attempted Abduction in Whitby

Police are investigating an attempted abduction of an 8-year-old boy in north Whitby yesterday.
On Thursday, February 15, 2018, at approximately 3:20 p.m., an 8-year-old boy was walking home near Watford Street and Downey Drive in Whitby. A small vehicle pulled up beside him and the driver said that the boy’s father was involved in an accident. The boy immediately ran home and told his parents, who then called police.
The suspect is described as: male, white, mid-40s with short, spikey brown hair, green eyes and a grey goatee. He is possibly 6′ tall. There is no clothing descriptors at this time.
The suspect vehicle is described as: a black, four-door, newer vehicle with tinted windows and a sunroof. No plate was obtained. The vehicle was last seen driving on Downey Drive toward Carnwith Drive East.
