An Adult Female Struck And Killed By VIA Train In Cobourg

The Cobourg Police Service is advising that, while the investigation continues, the crossing at D’Arcy Street has now been cleared of the VIA Rail train and local vehicle traffic may now proceed.   

The memorial for a man killed in November at the D’Arcy Street crossing is still there and yet another tragedy has happened.  At this point it’s unclear what exactly happened at the crossing.  Sources have told Today’s Northumberland the train was doing up to 70 mph.

The Cobourg Police Service has been investigating a collision between a VIA rail passenger train and an adult female. This collision occurred at approximately 8:49 AM at the D’Arcy Street Crossing, in Cobourg Ontario.

At the time of this release, no foul play is suspected.  The local coroner has been requested to attend, and Cobourg police and CN police are actively working to investigate the scene and identify the female. The crossing at D’Arcy Street remains closed as of this time.
