Cobourg Police – Three Suspects Charged After CDSA Investigation (Names Released)
Three individuals were arrested following the conclusion of a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act investigation in the Town of Cobourg.
On September 18, 2026, as part of an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking occurring in Cobourg and surrounding areas, members of the Cobourg Police Service (CPS) Street Crime Enforcement Unit, with the assistance of the CPS Canine Unit and CPS Uniform Patrol, conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the Town of Newtonville.
Police seized the following:
- 58 grams of cocaine
- 93grams of crack cocaine
- Scales
- Cellphones
The total street value of the drugs seized was approximately $18,000.
As a result of the investigation, Garth Brown (55) of Port Hope, Bailey Lawrence (30) of Port Hope, and Justin Stanley (36) of Cobourg were charged with the following:
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking a Schedule I substance – cocaine
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking a Schedule I substance – cocaine
- Possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000
Brown was additionally charged with fail to comply with probation. Lawrence was additionally charged with two counts of possession of a Schedule I substance. All three were held in custody for a bail hearing.
