Cyclist Injured After Being Struck by Vehicle in Cobourg

A female cyclist was taken to hospital after being struck by a vehicle at Burnham Street and Elgin Street West on Thursday, September 10, 2026.

Police say a witness reported the cyclist failed to dismount before entering the crosswalk. A vehicle making a right turn on a red light then struck the bicycle, sending the woman to the ground.

Emergency services including Cobourg Police, Cobourg Fire Department and Northumberland Paramedics attended the scene. The woman was taken to hospital with injuries to her head and wrist.

The cyclist was issued a Provincial Offence Notice and charged under HTA s. 140(6) – Ride bicycle across roadway within crosswalk.
