City of Kawartha Lakes OPP – Impaired Driving Charge Following Collision (Name Released)

Members from the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a collision on County Road 8 by Cable Road and arrested an impaired driver.

On Wednesday September 02, 2026 at approximately 9:00 pm officers were dispatched to a single motor vehicle collision where the vehicle was in the ditch, rolled over on County Road 8 near Cable Road in Verulam Township. The driver was arrested and charged with impaired driving related offences under the Criminal Code of Canada.

Colin Mitchell, 32-year old from Bobcaygeon was charged with:

Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

The accused are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date. The drivers licence was suspended for 90 days and the motor vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
