City of Kawartha Lakes OPP – Male Charged After Incident at Balsam Lake Provincial Park (No Name Released)
Members from the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to Balsam Lake Provincial Park for reports from concerned campers regarding a male in the park.
On Monday August 17, 2026 at approximately 8:24 pm officers from the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP were dispatched to Balsam Lake Provincial Park located in Bexley Township for reports from concerned campers regarding a male inside the camp ground.
On Tuesday August 18, 2026 officers attended Balsam Lake Provincial Park and arrested a 36 year old male as a result of the investigation. He was charged under the Criminal Code of Canada.
The 36 year old male, from Little Britain was charged with:
Sexual Assault
Sexual Interference
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has footage from the area at the time of the incident is asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122. The accused is being held in custody for a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay.
