Cobourg Police – Investigating Suspicious Portable Toilet Fire

Cobourg Police Service is investigating after responding to a fire Monday night.

On July 27, 2026, at approximately 10:15 p.m., Cobourg Police Service and Cobourg Fire Department responded to the area of D’Arcy Street and Alexandria Street in Cobourg after receiving a report that a group of youths were attempting to set fire to a portable toilet. A witness reported seeing a group of youths leaving the area on bicycles. As a result of the fire, one of the portable toilets sustained damage.

Anyone with information or video footage in the area is asked to contact the Cobourg Police Service at 905-372-6821. Information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), submitting a tip online at stopcrimehere.ca. Tips submitted through Crime Stoppers may be eligible for a cash reward.
