Port Hope Police – Port Hope Driver Facing Numerous Charges (No Name Released)

On Thursday, July 16, 2026, while on general patrol, Port Hope Police observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Peacock Boulevard before driving onto the grass along Rose Glen Road.

Officers attempted a traffic stop, but the vehicle fled. Due to public safety concerns, a pursuit was not initiated. The vehicle was located a short time later after being involved in a single-vehicle collision. The driver fled on foot but was arrested shortly afterward.

An 18-year-old Port Hope man has been charged with:

Flight from Peace Officer

Dangerous Operation

Failure to Stop After an Accident

Drive Motor Vehicle – No Licence (Highway Traffic Act)

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on October 7, 2026.
