Northumberland OPP – Cramahe Township Man Charged in ATV Collision (Name Released)

An individual is facing charges in connection with a serious collision in the Township of Cramahe.

On Saturday, April 4, 2026, at approximately 3:15 a.m., members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Cramahe Fire Department and Northumberland Paramedics responded to a report of an individual in a ditch off Huycke Road. A heavily damaged all-terrain vehicle (ATV) was located nearby. The individual was transported to a local hospital and later airlifted to another medical centre with life-threatening injuries.

As a result of the investigation, the driver of a second vehicle believed to be involved in a collision with the ATV was identified.

Joseph HUYCKE, 33 years old of the Township of Cramahe, was charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

Dangerous operation causing bodily harm, section 320.13(2)

Failure to stop after an accident resulting in bodily harm, section 320.16(2)

Obstructing a peace officer, section 129(a)

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on Wednesday, July 15, 2026.

The Northumberland OPP Crime Unit is conducting the investigation, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch. Assistance is being provided by OPP Forensic Identification Services and the OPP Central Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team.
