Warrant Arrest
On June 23, 2026, a Port Hope Police officer located and arrested an individual wanted on an outstanding warrant held by the Cobourg Police Service.
The individual was arrested without incident and subsequently turned over to Cobourg Police, who have assumed responsibility for the matter.
Assault Charge Laid
A Port Hope resident is facing charges following an assault that occurred on June 21, 2026.
At approximately 7:45 p.m., Port Hope Police responded to a report of an assault. The victim reported being punched in the stomach by an individual known to them while outside a residence in Port Hope. The accused fled the area prior to police arrival.
On June 22, 2026, officers located and arrested the accused without incident. The accused was charged with Assault and released on an undertaking with a future court date.
Police Investigate Reported Weapon Incident
On June 23, 2026, at approximately 5:10pm, Port Hope Police responded to a report of a possible weapon incident that was initially believed to involve a firearm.
Upon investigation, officers determined the incident was a workplace dispute involving co-workers at a construction site. No firearms were involved, no one was injured, and no criminal offences occurred.
Police spoke with all parties involved and confirmed there are no public safety concerns. No charges were laid.
Careless Driving Charge Laid Following Collision
On June 22, 2026, at approximately 7:55 p.m., Port Hope Police responded to a single-vehicle collision in Port Hope.
The driver struck a hydro pole, causing significant damage to both the vehicle and the pole. No injuries were reported.
A Toronto resident was charged with Careless Driving. Hydro crews attended the scene to replace the damaged pole.
