Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), alongside local EMS and fire services, responded to a fatal multi-vehicle collision in the Town of Omemee.
On June 6, 2026, at approximately 6:00 p.m., emergency crews were dispatched to the intersection of Highway 7 and New Heights Road following reports of a serious collision involving a passenger vehicle and four motorcycles.
As a result of the collision, the driver of the passenger vehicle, an 18-year-old m ale from Peterborough, was pronounced deceased at the scene. One of the motorcyclists, a 72-year-old male from Dunchurch, was also pronounced deceased at the scene.
A second motorcyclist, a 65-year-old male from Barrie, was airlifted to a Toronto-area trauma centre with serious injuries, where he was later pronounced deceased. A third motorcyclist, a 30-year-old male from Sudbury, was initially transported to a local hospital with injuries and later transferred to a Toronto-area trauma centre.
A fourth motorcyclist, a 36-year-old male from Sudbury, was treated and released at the scene.
Members of the OPP Technical Collision Investigation (TCI) unit attended the scene to assist with the investigation.
