Sudden Death
There was police activity this morning (Wednesday, May 27, 2026) in the area of George Street North and Townsend Street in Peterborough for a sudden death investigation. The death is not suspicious and is now a Coroner’s Investigation.
Impaired Arrest
A 51-year-old Peterborough man is facing impaired charges after an incident Tuesday afternoon.
At approximately 5:00pm on May 26, 2026, officers were called to a parking lot in the area of Lansdowne Street and Brealey Drive about a possible impaired driver. Upon arrival, officers located a vehicle with damage to the front end and were informed that the driver had left on foot. Officers located the driver at their residence and while speaking to them noticed signs of impairment.
As a result of the investigation, a 51-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:
Operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
Impaired Operation
The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and seven-day vehicle impoundment.
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court, July 7, 2026.
Assault Arrest
A 35-year-old Peterborough woman is facing several charges after an incident at Millenium Park in Peterborough Tuesday night.
At approximately 9:30pm on May 26, 2026, officers were called to the park about a woman yelling and spitting on another woman. Upon arrival, officers located a woman matching the description given to police and took her custody. While in custody, the woman spat at the officer.
As a result of the investigation, a 35-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested and charged with:
Assault
Assault a Peace Officer
Breach of Recognizance
Being intoxicated in public place (Liquor Licence Control Act)
The accused is currently bound by a recognizance with the following condition: to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.
The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, May 27, 2026.
Warrant Arrest
A 59-year-old Peterborough man wanted on a warrant for theft and fail to comply with probation is in custody.
At approximately 7:45pm on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, officers on general patrol in the area of Erskine Street and McKellar Street spotted the man riding a bicycle on the trail. He was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant for theft under $5000 X6 and Fail to comply with probation X18.
During the investigation, it was learned that the suspect was also wanted in connection with a retail theft on May 25, 2026.
As a result, a 59-year-old Peterborough man was further charged with:
Theft Under $5000
Fail to Comply with Probation Order X3
The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today May 27, 2026.
