Cobourg Police – Cobourg Man Charged with Theft (No Name Released)

Man faces charges after police respond to shoplifting.

On May 11, 2026, at approximately 6:50 p.m., police responded to a theft in progress at a business on Division Street in Cobourg. Staff reported that an unknown man entered the store, selected merchandise, and left without making any attempt to pay. Officers located a man matching the description a short distance away and found him in possession of the stolen items.

As a result of the investigation, police arrested and charged a 35-year-old Cobourg man with Theft Under $5,000 and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000. The accused was released on an undertaking with a future court date.
