Cobourg Police – Incidents Include Theft, Driver Charged with Impaired (No Names Released)

A 25-year-old Cobourg man is facing charges after police responded to a theft.

On Friday, March 13, 2026, at approximately 7:20 p.m., police responded to a call in the area of Ball Street and Balls Lane in Cobourg. The complainant reported that unknown individuals entered the backyard and stole property. The complainant located the suspects nearby and confronted them. He reported that one of the suspects struck him with an unknown object. Paramedics attended to treat the complainant for minor injuries.

As a result of the investigation, on March 14, 2026, a 25-year-old Cobourg man was arrested and charged with assault and two counts of failing to comply with probation.   The accused was held for a bail hearing and subsequently remanded into custody.


A 53-year-old Cobourg man is facing impaired charges.

On March 16, 2026, at approximately 7:00 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop in the area of Division Street at King Street after observing a vehicle fail to stop for a red light. After speaking with the driver, the investigating officer suspected he was impaired by drugs, and the Standardized Field Sobriety Test was conducted.

As a result of the investigation, the 53-year-old Cobourg man was arrested and charged with operation while impaired. The accused was released on an undertaking with a future court date.

The Cobourg Police Service encourages the public to report suspected impaired driving by calling 911. By reporting suspected impaired drivers to the police, everyone can help keep roads and waterways safe.
