Belleville Police – Incidents Include Fail to Comply, Stolen Vehicle, Warrants, Driver Charged with Impaired

Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 270 calls for service beginning at 5:00 am on February 27, 2026 to 5:00 am on March 2, 2026.

Failure to Comply
On March 1st at 7:05pm, Belleville Police responded to an address in the city’s east end regarding a report of a female that had left the residence alone, violating conditions that prohibited her form leaving alone.

Officers located the female a short distance away and escorted her back to the residence. Upon her return, she hit a staff member in the face and also made an attempt to pull the fire alarm.

As a result, a 26-year-old Belleville woman, was arrested and charged with:
· Failure to Comply with release order 3
· Fail to Comply with Probation order x 4

She was held for a bail hearing.

Warrants
On February 28th at 1:21pm, Belleville Police conducted a traffic stop in the city’s west end. Upon approaching the vehicle, officers observed a male in the back seat who was known to have three outstanding Belleville Police Service arrest warrants for shoplifting.

As a result of investigation, Aaron McCallum, 42-year-old Belleville man of no fixed address, was arrested on the strength of the warrants and held for bail hearing.

Stolen Vehicle
On February 28th at 12:22pm, Belleville Police received a report regarding a stolen vehicle. At approximately 2:30pm, Belleville police located the suspect vehicle driving in the city’s west end and successfully blocked it at an intersection, preventing it from continuing.
The driver of the vehicle attempted to punch an officer and fled on foot, initiating a brief foot pursuit. The driver was taken into custody a short distance away.
Meanwhile, the passenger fled on foot in the opposite direction but was also taken into custody a short distance away. During the arrest, officers discovered a BB gun in the passenger’s pocket.
As a result of investigation, the following persons were arrested and charged:

A 19-year-old Belleville man was arrested and charged with the following offences and held for a bail hearing:
· Theft of motor vehicle
· Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
· Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code X3
· Fail to comply with a probation order
· Imitation firearm – use while committing offence
· Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
· Assault with intent to resist arrest

A 16-year-old Belleville man whose identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was arrested and charged with the following offences and held for a bail hearing:
· Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
· Imitation firearm – use while committing offence
· Fail to comply with probation order X2
· Fail to comply with a release order
· Carrying concealed weapon
· Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose

Warrants
On February 28th at 10:05am, Belleville Police observed a male on North Front St. who was known to have an outstanding Belleville Police Service arrest warrant for:
· Fraud under $5000
· Theft under $5000
· Fail to comply with a probation order X2

As a result, Adam Brownson, 42-year-old Belleville man of no fixed address, was arrested on the strength of the warrant and held for a bail hearing.

Warrants
On February 28th at 2:55pm, Belleville Police responded to a park in the city’s north end regarding a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers spoke with a male who was known to have an outstanding Belleville Police Service arrest warrant for failure to attend court.

As a result, Gary Switzer, 36-year-old Belleville man of no fixed address, was arrested on the strength of the warrant and held for a bail hearing.

Assault
On February 28th at 3:47pm, Belleville Police responded a residence in the city’s north end regarding a report of threats being made.
Upon arrival, it was reported that a male had woken up to find another male threatening to kill him while holding a knife.

As a result of investigation, an 81-year-old Belleville man was arrested and charged with:
· Assault with a weapon
· Uttering threats

He was held for a bail hearing.

Belleville Woman Charged with Impaired
On February 28th at 2:16am, Belleville Police conducted a traffic stop on Dundas St East after observing vehicle driving erratically. Officers spoke to the female driver and observed signs of impairment.
As a result of investigation, Brooke Sheppard, 29-year-old Belleville woman, was arrested and charged with Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80mg. She was released on an Undertaking with a scheduled court date in April.

Belleville Man Charged with Assault
On February 27th at 10:03pm, Belleville Police responded to a report of a disturbance at a business in the city’s downtown area. Upon arrival, it was reported that a male had pushed another male to the ground and kicked him.
The victim was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
As a result of investigation, Sam Brady, 52-year-old Belleville man, was arrested and charged with assault causing bodily harm. He was released on an Undertaking with a scheduled court date in April.
