Traffic stop early Sunday morning leads to impaired charges.
On February 22, 2026, at approximately 2:00 a.m., police on general patrol observed a vehicle driving erratically. Police initiated a traffic stop in the area of University Street and Margaret Street in Cobourg.
While speaking with the driver, officers formed grounds to believe her ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol. As a result of the investigation, a 43-year-old Cobourg woman was arrested and charged with Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drug, Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus), Disobey Stop Sign, and Fail to Surrender Driver’s Licence.
The involved vehicle was impounded for seven days, and the driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days. The accused was released on an undertaking and Part III summons, with a future court date.

A Cobourg man is facing charges after police investigated a reported breach of court-imposed conditions.
On February 20, 2026, police received a report of a breach of probation after a complainant reported that an individual who was on conditions not to attend the residence was currently on scene. During the investigation, police also learned that the complainant had received indecent communications.
As a result, a 36-year-old Cobourg man was arrested and charged with Indecent Communications, Fail to Comply with Undertaking, and two counts of Fail to Comply with Probation. The accused was held for a bail hearing and remanded into custody.
