Cobourg Police – Incidents Include Multijurisdictional Theft and Fraud, Five Counts Fail to Attend, Impaired Charge, Mischief (No Names Released)

A 25-year-old North York man is facing multiple charges following a multijurisdictional theft and fraud investigation.

On February 11, 2026, police initiated an investigation after receiving a report of a stolen rental truck from a business in the north end of Cobourg. On February 12, 2026, at approximately 11:10 a.m., police were called back to the business after the stolen vehicle was observed driving in the area.

As a result of the investigation, the driver, a 25-year-old North York man, was arrested. Further investigation revealed the man’s involvement in additional criminal activity in Uxbridge, and police located several fraudulent credit cards and two fraudulent driver’s licenses. The investigation resulted in 13 charges.

A 29-year-old Cobourg woman is facing numerous charges.

On February 12, 2026, at approximately 3:50 p.m., police on patrol in the area of Spring Street and University Avenue observed a female wanted on five outstanding warrants with the Cobourg Police Service.

As a result of the police investigation, a 29-year-old Cobourg woman was arrested on the strength of the warrants. During the arrest, police located a quantity of suspected fentanyl. As a result, the accused was charged with five counts of fail to attend, two counts of breach of probation, theft under $5,000, and Possession of a Schedule 1 substance – Fentanyl. The accused was held for bail and remanded into custody.


A 38-year-old Cobourg man is facing charges after police responded to a disturbance on Saturday afternoon.

On February 14, 2026, at approximately 1:30 pm., police responded to the area of King Street West and George Street in Cobourg for a mischief in progress. The complainant advised that a man had just cut wires to his security camera and other cables to the building. Police located a man matching the description provided nearby. As a result of the police investigation, a 38-year-old Cobourg man was arrested and charged with Mischief and failing to comply with Probation. The accused was held for a bail hearing and subsequently remanded into custody.


 

A 31-year-old Cobourg man is facing charges after police responded to a suspicious person call on Sunday morning.

On February 15, 2026, at approximately 5:15 a.m., police responded to a suspicious person call in the area of Elgin Street West and Strathy Road in Cobourg, advising that a man was going through vehicles at a business, and fled from security when approached. Police located the man.

As a result of the police investigation, a 31-year-old Cobourg man was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000, possession under $5000 and three counts of failure to comply with Probation orders. The accused was held for a show cause hearing and subsequently remanded into custody.


A 50-year-old Ajax man is facing charges in an investigation into harassing communications.

On February 17, 2026, police received a report from a complainant about ongoing unwanted communication from an ex-partner after being cautioned by police. As a result of the police investigation, a 50-year-old Ajax man was arrested and charged with Criminal Harassment. The accused was subsequently released on an undertaking with a future court date.


Cobourg Police Service has charged a driver following an impaired driving investigation.

On February 16, 2026, at approximately 6:45 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Division Street and Elgin Street after receiving a report of a possible impaired driver.

Officers located a vehicle matching the description in the area and conducted a traffic stop. Upon speaking with the driver, officers detected a strong odour of alcohol and observed several empty alcohol containers inside the vehicle.

The driver was issued an Alcohol Screening Device demand and provided a sample, which resulted in a fail. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest for impaired operation. The driver was transported to the Cobourg Police Service, where a breath demand was made. The driver refused to comply. Further investigation revealed the driver was operating a motor vehicle without a required ignition interlock device, contrary to licence conditions.

As a result of the investigation, a 46-year-old Cobourg man was charged with Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs, Failure or refusal to comply with demand, Operation while prohibited – legal restriction from any other Act of Parliament or Provincial Law, Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor, and multiple Highway Traffic Act charges. The accused was released on an undertaking with a future court date.
