Let The Recruitment Commence for Cobourg Police

First steps have been taken in finding the Town of Cobourg’s 14th chief of police, Councillor Adam Bureau reported at the January council meeting.
Newly re-elected as Police Service Board chair, Bureau said that they have selected Waterhouse as the recruiting firm to help find a replacement when Chief Paul VandeGraaf retires in June.
VandeGraaf announced his retirement last month after 34 years of policing. He joined the force as deputy chief and was sworn in as chief in 2019.
“We anticipate the process commencing immediately. More information will be coming forward on that, as well as with the notice of retirement from the Deputy Chief. The board has not had time to discuss future plans and how we will proceed with that,” Bureau continued.
That would be the recently announced retirement plans from Deputy Chief Jeff Haskins of his own retirement in August after 35 years of policing. He has served with Cobourg since 2021.
