Port Hope Police – Youth Arrested Following Vehicle Theft
On January 21, 2026, a vehicle was stolen while the owner was inside a local recreation centre.
The vehicle had been left unlocked with a spare key and two cellphones inside.
Using a tracked phone, and with the assistance of Cobourg Police, officers were able to locate the vehicle at Cobourg business.
During the attempted police stop, the suspect tried to flee, damaging property before becoming stuck.
A youth was arrested and charged with theft of a motor vehicle and mischief to property, and released on an Undertaking with conditions.
Police are reminding residents to always lock their vehicles and never leave keys or valuables inside their vehicles.
