A 37-year-old man is facing charges for breaching a release order.
On January 16, 2026, at approximately 1:50 a.m., police on patrol downtown Cobourg observed a man on release conditions to reside with his surety between 11:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. and not to be within 500 meters of a downtown address.
As a result of the police investigation, the 37-year-old Cobourg man was arrested and charged with two counts of Fail to Comply with Release Order and three counts of Fail to Comply with Probation Order. The accused was held in custody pending a Show Cause Hearing and remanded into custody.
The Cobourg Police Service notes that since January 2025, the accused has been arrested six times with 18 criminal charges. In total, police have had 48 interactions with the accused in the past year.
Two Cobourg women are facing charges after police responded to a report of attempted vehicle entries.
On January 19, 2026, at approximately 3:30 a.m., police were called to the area of Alder Court and Alder Road in Cobourg after two individuals were observed attempting to enter vehicles. Police attended and canvassed the area.
One individual was located in a vehicle that did not belong to her. The 27-year-old Cobourg woman was arrested for trespassing by night and two counts of failing to comply with probation. The second individual, a 36-year-old Cobourg woman, was located in a backyard and was arrested for trespass by night, failure to comply with the release order, and two counts of failure to comply with probation. Both were held for a bail hearing and subsequently remanded into custody.
The Cobourg Police Service notes that since January 2025, the 36-year-old accused has been arrested nine times with 27 criminal charges. In total, police have had 86 interactions with the accused in the past year.
