Belleville Police – Belleville Resident Charged with Animal Cruelty After Biting Cat (No Name Released)
On November 3rd at 10:17am, Belleville Police responded to an animal welfare complaint. Upon investigation, police discovered that a male had hit, bitten, and thrown a cat against a wall. It was also reported that the male had previously bit another animal.
It was also learned the male was bound by a Probation Order to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.
Animal Welfare Officers attended with police and located the male. As a result, a 22-year-old Belleville resident, was arrested and charged with:
· Cruelty to animals causing unnecessary pain, suffering or injury X2
· Failure to comply with probation order
· Uttering threats
He was held for a bail hearing.
The cat has been rehomed since the incident.
