Cobourg Police – Incidents Include – Theft, Drug Charges, Perjury, Shoplifting (No Names Released)

A 26-year-old Oshawa man is facing theft charges for two separate incidents.

On October 21, 2025, at approximately 8:00 p.m., police responded to a shoplifting call at a business on Strathy Road in Cobourg. Police arrested the individual in the parking lot. Staff identified the individual for their involvement in a theft at the same business on October 12.

As a result of the police investigation, a 26-year-old Oshawa man was arrested and charged with two counts of Theft under $5,000. The accused was released from custody with a court date on December 3, 2025.


Two Cobourg residents are facing charges after police investigated open drug use.
On October 22, 2025, at approximately 3:00 p.m., police on general patrol in the area of Spencer Street East and Walton Street observed two individuals actively using a controlled substance. Both individuals were arrested. During the arrest, police located property taken from a business in their possession.

As a result of the police investigation, a 29-year-old Cobourg woman and a 33-year-old Cobourg man were jointly charged with possession of a schedule I substance (fentanyl) and possession of property obtained by crime. They were individually charged with breaching a probation order. Both individuals were held in custody pending a Show Cause Hearing.

The Cobourg Police Service notes that since October 2024, the female has been arrested three times with six criminal charges, and the male has been arrested four times with six criminal charges. In total, police have had 34 interactions with the female and 27 interactions with the male in that time period.


A 34-year-old Cobourg woman is facing charges following court-related investigation.

On October 14, 2025, a female attended the Ontario Court of Justice at 860 William Street, Cobourg, to act as a surety for a male appearing for a Show Cause Hearing. The male was subsequently released to the female’s care at a listed address in Brighton.

On October 19, 2025, police attended the Brighton address and, following an investigation, determined that the male had never resided there and that the female had not lived there for several months. Further investigation revealed the female had intimidated a witness connected to the court matter.

As a result of the police investigation, on October 23, 2025, a 34-year-old Cobourg woman was arrested and charged with Perjury, Obstruction of Justice, Intimidation of a Justice System Participant, and Possession of a Schedule I Substance. She was held in custody pending a Show Cause Hearing.


Drug charges laid following downtown patrols Thursday.

On October 23, 2025, officers on general patrol in the area of Albert Street and Second Street located an individual with suspected fentanyl and drug paraphernalia in plain view. The 31-year-old Cobourg man was arrested and charged with Possession of a Schedule I Substance and three counts of Failing to Comply with Probation. The accused was held for a Show Cause Hearing.

The Cobourg Police Service notes that, since October 2024, the individual has been arrested five times and charged with 32 criminal offences. In total, police have had 44 interactions with the accused in the last year.

A 30-year-old Cobourg man at the scene was found to be wanted on an outstanding warrant. Further investigation led to additional charges, including Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, two counts of Breach of Probation, and possession of illicit cannabis under the Cannabis Act. The accused was released on an Undertaking.

The Cobourg Police Service notes that, since October 2024, the individual has been arrested twelve times and charged with 20 criminal offences. In total, police have had 28 interactions with the accused in the last year.

Later that evening, at approximately 7:00 p.m., officers on patrol along King Street East observed another individual actively using a controlled substance. Upon arrest, the individual was found in possession of suspected crack cocaine and was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Failing to Comply with Probation. The accused, a 37-year-old Cobourg man, was released on an Undertaking with a future court date.


A 53-year-old Cobourg woman is facing charges after a business reported shoplifting.

On October 23, 2025, at approximately 8:50 a.m., police were contacted by a business in the north end of Cobourg for a report of shoplifting. The business advised that an unknown individual had attended the store on two separate dates in August and October and had stolen numerous household items.

Through investigation, police identified the suspect. As a result, a 53-year-old Cobourg woman was arrested and charged with two counts each of Theft Under $5,000 and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000. She was released on an Undertaking with a future court date.
