Northumberland OPP – Dropped 911 Call Leads to Drug Seizure and Two People Charged (Names Released)

The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged two individuals following an investigation involving drugs.

On October 10, 2025, at around 5:40 p.m., OPP responded to a report of a dropped 9-1-1 call at an address on 6th Line in the Municipality of Port Hope.

While at the location, police discovered what was believed to be an illegal Cannabis grow operation.

As a result, a search warrant was executed with the assistance of the OPP Peterborough-Northumberland Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU).

Police seized over 1,000 cannabis plants with an estimated street value of approximately $1,000,000. In addition, over 500 lbs of processed Cannabis were located on the property.

As a result, Yikai DING (59) of no fixed address, and Xiuqi KIU (69) of Markham, have both been charged with:

–      Possess, produce, sell, distribute or import anything with intention to use it to produce, sell or distribute illicit Cannabis

Both individuals were held for bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg.
