The Peterborough Police Service is investigating the homicide of a 25-year-old Peterborough resident.
At approximately 2:00am on August 3, 2025, officers were called to a parking lot in the Monaghan Road and Cameron Street area. Upon arrival, officers learned that the victim and a friend were walking in the area when a confrontation happened between the two and five youths. During the confrontation, the victim was stabbed, and the youths ran from the scene. The victim was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre where he died of his injuries.
Roads in the area were shut down for several hours as officers, including K9, searched the area. The Peterborough Police Service RPAS (Remotely Piloted Aircraft System) and OPP helicopter were called in to assist with an aerial search. The roads have since reopened.
One person is in custody and officers continue to search for four males believed to be under the age of 18.
