Northumberland OPP – Dispute at Residence Results in Weapons Charges

A Colborne resident is facing weapons-related charges after police responded to an incident on Telephone Road in the Township of Cramahe.

On July 28, 2025, shortly before 9:30 p.m., members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to a residence following a report of a dispute, with concerns that firearms may be involved.

Upon arrival, officers located several rifles and shotguns that were being stored in an unsafe manner.

As a result, Murray DAVEY (74) of Colborne, was taken into custody and charged with:

·        Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition – six counts

The firearms and ammunition were seized. The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in September.
