Peterborough County OPP – ATV Driver Charged with Impaired (Name Released)

Officers from the Peterborough County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged an individual with impaired driving after stopping an all-terrain vehicle (ATV).

On May 17, 2025, just prior to 1:30pm, Peterborough County OPP Officers were patrolling on County Road 36 in the Municipality of Trent Lakes. Officers observed an individual operating an ATV and stopped to speak with them. During the course of their conversation, officers determined the driver to be impaired and arrested them.

Christopher SHAW (age 36) of Buckhorn, ON., was arrested and charged with;

· Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

· Operation While Prohibited under the Criminal Code

· Driver – No helmet or proper helmet

· Drive with passenger not wearing proper helmet

· Operate a motor vehicle without insurance

The accused had their driver’s licence further suspended for 90-days, and their vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on June 10, 2025
