Quinte West OPP – Barrie Man Charged with Impaired Operation of a Vessel (Name Released)

The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested and charged the operator of a vessel following a complaint of a suspected impaired driver.

On May 5, 2025, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Quinte West OPP responded to the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) concerning an individual who may have been under the influence of alcohol and operating a vessel. Following the administration of an approved screening device, the accused was arrested. The accused was transported to the Quinte West OPP Detachment for further testing where their blood alcohol levels were determined to be above the legal limit.

Thomas WARE, 63 years old from Barrie has been charged with the following offences:

Operation while impaired – alcohol

Operation while impaired – blood concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on May 29, 2025. Additionally, their Driver’s License was suspended for 90 days.
