Cobourg Police Wraps Up April STEP Program

The Cobourg Police Service (CPS) has concluded its April Selective Traffic Enforcement Project (STEP), which focused on speeding violations. This initiative aimed to enhance the safety of drivers, passengers, and pedestrians on the roads of Cobourg.

Throughout April, CPS implemented a comprehensive approach to reduce speeding incidents, which included engagement, education, and enforcement. The monthly initiative aims to foster a culture of responsible driving and compliance with traffic laws, contributing to safer roads for everyone.

A highlight of the April STEP initiative is the 27 speeding tickets issued. Officers also issued numerous charges for other traffic-related infractions, including:

• Owner Operate – No Insurance

• Drive While Under Suspension

• Drive Motor Vehicle – No Licence

• Drive – Hand-Held Communication Device

• Obstruct Licence Plate

CPS urges all drivers to continue adhering to posted speed limits.
