Belleville Police – Incidents Include Theft of Vehicle, Breach of Release, MVC Leads to Multiple Charges

Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 161 calls for service between 5:00 am on February 21, 2025 to 5:00 am on February 24, 2025.

Theft of vehicle
On the 21st of February at 10:44am, Belleville Police received a report of a stolen vehicle from an address on Highland Ave.

The owner reported that on the 20th of February between 1:00am and 2:30pm, unknown persons stole his 2023 black Jeep Wrangler with Ontario licence plate CYDM 408.

The keys were not in the vehicle. Anyone with information regarding this theft or the whereabouts of the vehicle are asked to contact the Belleville Police Service at 613-966-0882.

Breach of Release Order
On the 21st of February at 10:04pm, Belleville Police received information that a 45-year-old female from Belleville was subject to a Release Order with conditions which included a curfew and that she was failing to abide by the curfew.

Police located the female 20 minutes later at an address in Belleville and arrested her without incident.

She was held for a bail hearing.

Single motor vehicle collision leads to multiple charges
On the 22nd of February at 10:45pm, Belleville Police were called to the area of John Street and Bridge Street East regarding a single vehicle motor vehicle collision.

A witness reported that a sedan had stuck a pole and the driver was believed to be intoxicated. An officer arrived and observed that the vehicle had left the collision scene but had parked nearby.

Police determined the identity of the driver.

The driver was found to be intoxicated from the consumption of alcohol and was arrested.

As a result of the investigation, 28-year-old Yabets Tadesse of Belleville was charged with impaired driving, driving with 80 plus blood alcohol concentration and failing to comply with a Probation Order.

Tadesse was additionally charged with failing to report an accident, careless driving and driving with no valid permit.

Tadesse was released with a court date in March.

Theft and breaches
On the 22nd of February at 8:30pm, Belleville Police responded to a Bell Blvd. business regarding a pair of shoplifters who were confronted by staff.

The suspects fled the store and departed the area in a vehicle. Responding officers located the vehicle nearby and the pair inside.

The involved male provided false information regarding his name and it wasn’t learned until after he had left that the pair were each on Release Orders and Undertakings not to communicate or be around each other.

As a result, 51-year-old Brandy Rogerson was arrested for failing to comply with a Release Order, failing to comply with an Undertaking and theft under $5000.

Rogerson was held for a bail hearing.

An arrest warrant is being sought for the arrest of the 52-year-old of Belleville man for charges of failing to comply with a Release Order, failing to comply with an Undertaking, theft under $5000 and obstructing a Peace Officer.

Domestic incident leads to arrest and charges
A 43-year-old Belleville man is being held for bail after Belleville Police began an investigation on February 23rd.

Belleville Police were called to an east end residence just before 9:30pm after a complaint was received regarding a woman being assaulted by her partner.

The suspect fled the residence prior to police arrival however he was located a short time later and arrested without incident.

Following the police investigation, he was charged with assault, sexual assault, uttering threats, and forcible confinement.
