The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges in an impaired driving investigation.
On Friday, December 13, 2024, at approximately 10:00 p.m., officers were conducting a RIDE program on the Highway 401 off-ramp at Trenton-Frankford Road. An Approved Screening Device was utilized for one driver resulting in that person’s arrest. A search of the vehicle led to the seizure of approximately 14 grams of suspected m ethamphetamine and the arrest of the passenger.
Jordan HAGGETT, 30 years old from Trenton, has been charged with:
Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine
Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor
Drive motor vehicle – no licence
Matthew SWEET, 30 years old from Kingston, has been charged with:
Possession of a Schedule I substance – methamphetamine
Both the accused parties were released from custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville at a future date. The vehicle was impounded for seven days, and the driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days.
