Northumberland OPP – Port Hope Man Charged with Impaired and Stunt Driving (Name Released)

The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver with impaired operation and stunt driving.

On October 24, 2024, at approximately 7:25 p.m., police responded to a report of a motorist engaging in stunt driving at a car park in the area of Percy Boom Road and County Road 30 in the Municipality of Trent Hills.

Officers responded to the location and the subject of the complaint was no longer present. Through investigative avenues, OPP located the passenger vehicle described by the caller at a nearby residence. Upon speaking with the driver, police entered into an impaired operation investigation. The individual was arrested and transported to a local detachment for further tests.

As a result, Taylor WATMAN (age 26), from Port Hope, has been charged with:

– Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

– ; Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

– Dangerous operation

– Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt.

In addition to a future court date, a further 90-day Administrative Driver Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a 14-day vehicle impound was initiated as per statute.

The OPP remind motorists that no amount of alcohol or drug is acceptable to consume and drive. Report impaired drivers. Should you observe a suspected impaired driver, please dial 911 or contact the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122.
