Exclusive – A Port Hope Police officer was taken to hospital by ambulance after being overcome by the effects of Fentanyl.
Port Hope Police confirmed to Today’s Northumberland that on October 4, 2024 that police were investigating a suspect after attempting to steal parts off a vehicle.
The man was located on Cavan Street where he was arrested and searched.
Officers discovered he was in possession of stolen property and Fentanyl.
During the investigation one officer was overcome and was given Narcan.
The officer was taken to hospital by ambulance and later released and has recovered.
The suspect was charged with disguise with intent to commit an indictable offence, attempt theft, possession of a schedule 1 substance, possession of property obtained by crime, and fail to attend court.
On October 9, 2024, it’s alleged the same male stole property from a residence on Alexander Street. He was located at his home address, where he was arrested and charged with Possession of Stolen property obtained by crime, and Failing to Appear
He was once again released on an undertaking.
