Belleville Police – Domestic Violence, Indecent Exposure, Impaired Charge
Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 94 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on September 30, 2024 to 5:00 am on October 1, 2024.
Domestic violence leads to arrest and charges
On the 30th of September at 10:50pm, Belleville Police attended a residence in the city’s east end after a female called requesting that police remove her male partner because he did not live there, he was intoxicated and refusing to leave. Upon their arrival, police spoke to the involved parties. During their investigation, police learned that within the previous 48 hours, the male had physically assaulted the female and threw a cell phone at her striking her in the face. The female did not require medical attention. As a result of the investigation, police arrested a 38-year-old Belleville man and charged him with assault and assault with a weapon. He was held for a bail hearing.

Indecent Exposure
On the 30th of September at 6:11pm, Belleville Police received a call regarding an adult male who was walking around wearing nothing but a shirt while at a playground on Octavia St where there were several children playing. Police attended and spoke to adult witnesses who confirmed the male had been exposing himself to the children even after being spoken to by witnesses. Police located the male who was still in the area. Upon their arrival, the male was wearing a pair of underwear. As a result of the ensuing investigation, police arrested and charged a 43-year-old Kingston man with exposing himself to children under the age of sixteen years for a sexual purpose. He was held for a bail hearing.
Disturbance call leads to impaired driving charges
On the 1st of October at 12:08am, Belleville Police received a report of a disturbance at a business on North Front St. Upon their arrival, police spoke to staff who advised that the suspect in the disturbance had left driving his vehicle and that he had been consuming alcohol. Police were able to identify the suspect and had a description of the vehicle. A short time later, police observed the vehicle on North Front St. Police conducted a traffic stop and found the driver to be intoxicated. Subsequently, the driver was arrested and transported to the Belleville Police Service for further testing.
As a result, 37-year-old Luke Callaghan of Belleville was charged with Operation while impaired – alcohol and Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus. He was released on an Undertaking with a court date in November.
