Third Person Charged In Relation to Assault at Warkworth Institution

A third has been charged in relation to an assault which occurred at the Warkworth Institution that resulted in two individuals being transported to hospital.

On June 10, 2024, at approximately 8:30 p.m., police responded to a report of an assault at the Warkworth Institution located in Trent Hills involving a number of individuals.

ORNGE Air transported one person to a local hospital and another individual to a Toronto Hospital. Injuries to both persons were described as serious.

As a result, a warrant was issued and Northumberland OPP arrested one of the parties involved at the facility on September 12, 2024.

A 34-year-old, from Loyalist Township, has been charged with:

–      Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose

–      Aggravated assault.

Another warrant was issued and on September 24, 2024, OPP arrested an additional person involved in the incident.

A 20-year-old, from Agassiz, British Columbia, has been charged with:

–      Aggravated assault.

A further warrant was issued and on September 26, 2024, officers arrested a third individual involved.

A 37-year-old, from Renous, New Brunswick, has been charged with:

–      Aggravated assault

–      Carrying concealed weapon.

The accused were held to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on the respective dates.
