Northumberland OPP – Havelock Woman Charged with Impaired Following Collision (Name Released)

The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested a driver following a two-vehicle collision in the Township of Hamilton.

On August 13, 2024, at approximately 8:55 p.m., Emergency Medical Services (EMS), the Township of Hamilton Fire Department and OPP responded to a report of a collision involving two passenger vehicles on County Road 45.

Police arrived on the scene where involved parties were being treated by paramedics for minor injuries.

Upon speaking with one of the drivers, officers determined the individual to be under the influence of alcohol. OPP made an Approved Screening Device (ASD) demand and the driver refused to comply. The accused was arrested and transported to a local detachment for further testing.

Stephanie LAROCQUE, 31-years-old, from Havelock, has been charged with:

–      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

–      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg at a future date. Their driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and they vehicle impounded for 7 days.

Northumberland OPP remind motorists to plan ahead when consuming alcohol and drugs. Use a designated driver, cab, rideshare, public transit or stay overnight. Any amount of alcohol or drugs can impact your ability to make sound judgements.
