Peterborough Police – 13-Year-Old Oshawa Male Facing Numerous Charges Involving Stolen Vehicle

A 13-year-old Oshawa male is facing a number of charges after an incident Tuesday morning.

At approximately 6:45am on July 30, 2024, officers were called about a vehicle that had been stolen from a residence in the Arndon Avenue and Monaghan Road area and bicycle left in its place.  An officer on general patrol spotted the vehicle at a traffic light on Lansdowne Street.  When the officer activated their emergency lights the vehicle took off through the red light at a high rate of speed.  The officer followed, but the pursuit was called off for safety reasons and officers lost sight of the vehicle.  Shortly after, a call was received about a collision at the corner of Highway 7 and Lansdowne Street.  Officers attended and noticed a vehicle matching the description of the stolen vehicle upside down in the ditch. They were directed to the driver who was sitting nearby.  As the driver was assessed by EMS at the scene, officers learned that there were two warrants out for his arrest.

As a result of the investigation, a 13-year-old Oshawa male was arrested on the strength of the warrants and further charged with:

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on July 30, 2024.
