Belleville Police Service – Incidents Include Impaired Driving, Harassment

Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 67 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on July 30, 2024 to 5:00 am on July 31, 2024.

Impaired Driving
On the 30th of July at 11:30pm, Belleville Police were notified that an intoxicated patron had left a north-end business driving a vehicle. Officers located the vehicle in the area of Dundas Street and Pinnacle Street. Officers conducted a traffic stop and spoke with the driver. As part of the investigation, an Approved Screening Device was administered and the driver was subsequently arrested and transported to the Belleville Police Service for further testing. The driver provided samples of his breath which were found to be over the legal limit. As a result of the investigation, 49-year-old Eric Gosselin of Carrying Place was charged with Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus. He was released on an Undertaking with a court date in September.

Harassment
On the 30th of July at 11:30am, Belleville Police responded to an east end residence regarding a complainant of continued unwanted contact by a former spouse. The investigation revealed that the suspect was currently wanted on two outstanding warrants for multiple counts of harassment and failing to comply with a Release Order towards his former partner. Police continued the investigation. The suspect was located and arrested at a north end motel at 6pm. The 69-year-old Belleville resident was arrested on the strength of the two outstanding arrest warrants and he was additionally charged with two counts of failing to comply with a Release Order. He was held for a bail hearing.
