Steer on the loose in the east end of Belleville
For the past several weeks, a steer has been spotted in the city’s east end.
The animal, which is owned by a resident in the area of Elmwood Drive and Airport Parkway, got loose from its enclosure in mid-July.
The public is advised not to approach the animal – which is described as black and white and a little more than a year old – as it is not particularly friendly.
Staff with the City of Belleville are working to develop a plan to address this issue with community partners and services.
At this point, anyone who observes the steer is asked to contact the City of Belleville’s Transportation Operations Services at 613-967-3275. This number is also monitored after-hours by city staff.
If there is an immediate public safety concern regarding the steer, please contact 911 and police will respond.
