Controlled Drug and Substances Act search warrants leads to arrests and charges
On the 30th of April, as a result of a Drug Trafficking investigation in the City of Belleville, members of Project Renewal, the Belleville Police Emergency Response Unit and K9 Team executed two Controlled Drug and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrants in Belleville’s east end, resulting in the arrest two persons.
As a result of the investigation police seized:
· Cocaine 118.3 grams
· Methamphetamines 49.4 grams
· Fentanyl 0.4 grams + Syringe
· Fentanyl pills x 41
· Tec 3 pills x 49
· Vyvanse pills x 13
· Dayvigo pills x 9
· 9mm Handgun with magazine and ammunition
· Pepper spray
· $3735 in Canadian currency
As a result of the investigation, police arrested and charged the following two persons:
Brian Vining 41 years-old of Belleville was charged with:
1. Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking (Cocaine) – Sec 5(2) CDSA.
2. Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking (Fentanyl) – Sec 5(2) CDSA
3. Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking (Methamphetamines) – Sec 5(2) CDSA
4. Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking (Codeine) – Sec 5(2) CDSA
5. Possession of a Schedule III substance for the purpose of Trafficking (Vyvanse) – Sec 5(2) CDSA
6. Possession of a Schedule IV substance for the purpose of Trafficking (Dayvigo) – Sec 5(2) CDSA
7. Careless storage of Firearm – Sec 86(1) CC
8. Unauthorized possession of a restricted firearm – Sec 91(1) CC
9. Unauthorized possession of Weapon (Pepper Spray) – Sec 91(2) CC
10. Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition – Sec 95(1) CC
11. Possession of a firearm knowing the serial number had been tampered with – Sec 108(1)(b) CC.

Vining was held for bail.

Lavecque was released on an Undertaking with a court date in June.
Update – Shooting Incident on April 29th 2024
On the 29th of April at approximately 2:30pm, Belleville Police responded to a call on Hwy # 37 and Harmony Road regarding shots fired into a nearby residence. The suspect is described as a male, wearing a mask, dressed in all-black clothing and driving a standup electric-powered scooter with two wheels. Members of the Belleville Police Service Uniform Patrol, Emergency Response Unit, K9 Team, Forensics Identification Unit and Criminal Investigations Division attended. Area schools were placed in a secure and hold while police searched the area for the suspect. The suspect was not located. Police assisted in safely removing students and staff from two nearby schools. Based on the investigation to date, police believe this was an isolated incident and there is no further threat to community safety.
Members of the Belleville Police Service Criminal Investigations Division are continuing the investigation. Impaired Driving
On the 30th of April at 9:22pm, the Belleville Police Service received a call from a witness who observed a vehicle strike an apartment building then drove up onto a nearby curb before becoming stuck. The driver was observed to exit the vehicle and enter the apartment building. The apartment building is located in the city’s east end. Police attended and began an investigation. Police were able to identify the driver and located her in a nearby residence within the apartment building. The driver was arrested for impaired driving. Following the completion of the investigation, 47-year-old Bethany Girard of Belleville was charged with impaired driving and over 80. She was released on an Undertaking with a court date in June. Both the vehicle and building sustained minor damage and there were no reported injuries.
Single motor vehicle collision leads to impaired driving charge
On the 1st of May at 2:00am, members of the Belleville Police Service responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Moira Street West and Palmer Road. Upon arrival, police located a single vehicle which had left the roadway. The subsequent police investigation led to the arrest and charges against the driver, 21-year-old Sebastian Czekallo of Belleville for impaired driving, over 80 and failing to report damage to property under the Highway Traffic Act. He was released on an Undertaking with a court date in June.
