Peterborough Police Service – Incidents Include Officer Takes Down Man With Loaded Firearm and Animal Death Arrest (No Names Released)

Weapons Arrest

A 24-year-old Peterborough man is facing a number of charges after an incident Monday night.

At approximately 11:35pm on April 8, 2024, an officer was just wrapping up a call for service in the Brock Street and Aylmer Street area, when they spotted a male who appeared impaired fall in the middle of the road.  The officer approached the male in their vehicle and asked if they were okay.  During the exchange the officer noticed a firearm in the man’s sweater and that the man was trying to conceal it.  At that time the officer got out of his vehicle, drew his firearm and initiated a gunpoint arrest.  The suspect did not listen to officer demands and started to reach toward the pocket with the firearm.  The officer pushed the suspect down and took him into custody.  During a search of the suspect after arrest officers located:

As a result of the investigation, a 24-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, April 9, 2024

 

Animal Death Arrest

A 53-year-old Township of Cavan-Monaghan man has been charged in connection with the death of a cat in March.

As a result of the investigation, the 53-year-old man was arrested and charged with:

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court April 23, 2024.
