Dangerous Driving / Impaired Driving
On the 8th of April at 7:30pm, a Belleville police officer was travelling on North Front St. when a vehicle passed the cruiser at a very high rate of speed nearly causing a collision. At the time, there was a considerable amount of traffic on the roadway. The officer initiated a traffic stop however the vehicle initially failed to stop for police. Eventually, the vehicle stopped near the intersection of North Front St. and Grove St. While speaking to the driver, the officer determined the driver was impaired from the consumption of alcohol. The driver was arrested and returned to the Belleville Police Service for further investigation. At the conclusion of the investigation, 37-year-old Gregory Thrussell of Napanee was charged criminally with Dangerous Driving, Impaired Driving, Over 80, Flight from Police and Stunt Driving under the Highway Traffic Act. His driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for 14 days. He was released on an Undertaking with a court date in May.
Harassment leads to arrest
On the 8th of April at 10:00am, Belleville Police were contacted by an adult female victim reporting that a former acquaintance has been continually following her despite repeated requests to stop and on today’s date, showed up at her residence uninvited after following her home from school. Following the police investigation, a 22-year-old male from Belleville was charged with criminal harassment. He was released on an Undertaking with a court date in May.
Police are not releasing the name of the accused in order to protect the identity of the victim.
