Peterborough County OPP – Highway 7 Reopened Following Fatal Collision
Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and emergency crews have been cleared from the scene of a fatal collision that occurred on Highway 7 earlier this morning.
At approximately 6:40am on March 19, 2024, the Peterborough County OPP received a call reporting a serious collision in the area of Highway 7 and David Fife Line. Officers arrived on scene to a collision invol ving a westbound passenger vehicle and an eastbound tractor trailer. As a result of the collision, the 49-year-old male driver of the passenger vehicle was pronounced as deceased at the scene.
Highway 7 was closed in both directions with traffic being diverted around the area while OPP officers and emergency crews dealt with the collision scene.
At approximately 4:30pm, officers were cleared from the scene and the debris from the collision had been cleaned up. Highway 7 has now been re-opened in both directions.
The OPP would like to remind motorists that any amount of snow on our roads can lead to slippery conditions. Please slow down and drive according to current road conditions.
