Northumberland OPP – Four Drivers Charged with Impaired Operation (Names Released)

Members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are continuing to work diligently in keeping the roads safe in Northumberland. Officers arrested four individuals in unrelated incidents.

On March 15, 2024, at approximately 9:20 a.m., Northumberland OPP responded to complaint from a member of the public regarding a driver who dropped off their child for an activity on Dale Road in Hamilton Township. The motorist was then located and police were led into an impaired operation investigation.

As a result, a 37-year-old, from Hamilton Township, has been charged with:

• Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

The person will not be named to protect the identity of the young person.

On March 16, 2024, at approximately 4:30 a.m., OPP responded to a report of a single-vehicle in the ditch on County Road 45 in Alnwick-Haldimand Township. The individual was transported by Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to a local hospital with reported minor injuries.

Patrick QUINN, 32-years-old, from Campbellford, has been charged with:

• Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

On March 17, 2024, at approximately 3:30 p.m., OPP stopped a vehicle for speeding on County Road 28 in the Municipality of Port Hope. Police were led into an impaired operation investigation.

Timothy KAY, 33-years-old, from Newtonville, has been charged with:

• Operation while impaired – blo od alcohol concentration (80 plus)
• Speeding.

On March 17, 2024, at approximately 6:30 p.m., OPP stopped a vehicle travelling westbound in Highway 401 in Hamilton Township for speeding. The officer was led into an impaired operation investigation.

Tommy MARTEL-HOULE. 27-years-old, from Victorialville, Quebec, has been charged with:

• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
• Speeding.

The accused individuals are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg at a future date. All received an additional 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment.
