One person has been charged after a police investigation into a single vehicle collision.
On February 17, 2024, at approximately 12:45 a.m., members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a passenger vehicle which had collided into a residence on Front Street North in Campbellford.
Officers arrived on the scene and there were no injuries reported. Following speaking with the driver, police were led into an impaired operation investigation. As a result, the accused was arrested and transported to a detachment for further testing. During the course of the investigation, it transpired that the person did not have permission to take the vehicle.
David QUACKENBUSH, 36-years-old, from Peterborough, has been charged with:
· Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
· Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
· Operation while prohibited
· Take motor vehicle without consent
· Careless Driving
· Novice driver – B.A.C. above zero
· Class G1 licence holder – unaccompanied by qualified driver
· Class G1 licence holder – drive at unlawful hour.
A further 90-day Administrative Driver Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a 45-day vehicle impound was initiated.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg at a future date.
